About Consilium

Consilium Academies is a multi-academy Trust working across the North of England. It has nine academy schools located in Yorkshire, the North West, and the North East. Consilium is dedicated to enriching lives and inspiring ambitions for both students and colleagues.

Curriculum Aims

At Thornhill Academy, we are justly proud of the individualised and personalised curriculum which enables all our pupils to succeed.

Students in KS3 (Years 7, 8, and 9) broadly follow the National Curriculum studying the following subjects:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • ICT
  • Art
  • Design and Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • Modern Foreign Languages
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Studies

Following students taking their options at the end of year 9, KS4 pupils will follow a range of differentiated pathways – these involve both academic and vocational courses.

The majority of KS4 pupils will study the following academic subjects:

  • English Language and Literature
  • Mathematics
  • Science
    • Triple Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
    • Combined Science
  • Business and Communications Studies
  • History or Geography
  • Physical Education
  • Personal, Development Learning, and Religious Education

Pupils then select from a wide-choice of GCSEs and BTEC qualifications.
