Year 9 Options

As a pupil in Year 9, you will be starting your Key Stage 4 GCSE courses in September, and the time has come for you to begin to make important choices about your future. Over the next few weeks there will be a series of opportunities to support and guide you in making these important decisions. This starts with an additional assembly on Friday 4th March.

Making curriculum choices in Year 9 is a very important part of your time in school. It is an opportunity for you to take control of your education and shape your future. The options you choose for Key Stage 4 will affect how you spend your time at school for the next two years. The choices you make will also influence what you decide to do after Year 11.

At Thornhill, we believe that education is not a ‘one size fits all’ system. We believe that everyone needs a curriculum which gives them a mix of academic, creative, practical and social skills to equip them for life in the fast moving world of the 21st century.

On Tuesday 8th March, we invite you and your parents to an information evening to find out more about the process, the choices available to you and to get important advice and guidance from your teachers.  Here you will find copies of our presentation, assemblies and pathways booklet.
